The grand celebration of the boyband era continues its triumphant journey with an exclusive stop in Skellefteå! Audiences can look forward to A show larger than life – a production packed with hits spanning six decades, focusing on the iconic ’90s up to today. Skellefteå will also be the only city in Norrland to experience this nostalgic extravaganza over several days, with the premiere on June 4 at Sara kulturhus.
From June 4-7, Sara kulturhus presents its most ambitious production to date. This spectacular show features unforgettable melodies from legendary groups like The Temptations, Jackson Five, Backstreet Boys, and Take That. With captivating stage effects, world-class choreography, and innovative arrangements, the performance pays tribute to one of music history’s most beloved genres.
The production brings together handpicked artists, dancers, musicians, and creators. On stage, audiences will enjoy Skellefteå native David Lindgren alongside Boris René, Greg Curtis, Erik Segerstedt, and Mattias Andréasson. They are joined by five more of Sweden’s top stars.
– Being able to offer something that audiences in northern Sweden have been asking for feels incredible. We know that the music and energy of A show larger than life captivate and attract audiences across generations, making this a summer celebration for everyone, says Sofia Andersson Lundberg, Program Manager at Sara kulturhus.
The show is directed by award-winning director and choreographer Roine Söderlundh (Singin’ In The Rain, Chicago, and Mamma Mia! The Party, among others). The setlist is a fireworks display of global hits from acts like New Kids on the Block, ‘NSYNC, and One Direction.
Producer Mikael Gordon-Solfors, known for successes like Alcazar’s Disco Defenders, Danny Saucedo’s Nu and The Run(a)way Show, and Ola Salo’s It Takes a Fool To Remain Sane, is thrilled about the Skellefteå stop:
– What an honor to give Skellefteå and its surroundings the chance to see this joy-filled show that has enchanted both audiences and critics in Stockholm and Gothenburg. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what has made this production a hit, but it truly is ‘The soundtrack of our lives.’ Get ready for music and entertainment for all generations, created with pride and passion. Hold on tight – this summer, the party is coming to town!
Beyond the music, A show larger than life also honors the Swedish producers and songwriters who contributed to the international success of boybands. Names like Max Martin, Denniz Pop, Andreas Carlsson, and Lisa Miskovsky take the spotlight, reminding us of Sweden’s pivotal role in shaping a global music phenomenon.
Tickets for all performances of “A show larger than life” will be released on Friday, December 6, at 10:00 AM via sarakulturhus.se, ticketmaster.se, and Skellefteå Turistcenter.
